About this site

Amanda Gilmore is an artist based in Dublin, Ireland. Most of what you will find here is my fiber art, and the occasional blog post.

✨ Thanks for your interest in what I make. ✨ I view art as a kind of nonverbal conversation, and it's a joy to join you in that conversation. As someone who is on the lower-support end of the Autism spectrum, it's become more apparent why visual artistic communication has been important to me my whole life.

A person's subjective internal experience can be hard to convey verbally-sometimes the words don't exist for a particularly subtle emotion. It's a bit like a color gradient scale. We have a word for "purple", but there are so many other kinds of purple on this image, and they don't all have a word.

I try to convey the subtle parts of internal experience that fall in those fuzzy spaces between "purple" and "acqua" and "green", so to speak. I hope you enjoy.
